Our website classes offer several advantages over traditional desktop-based meeting platforms like Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Cisco Webex or even online video platforms like Google Meet. Here are some of the reasons we chose to host our own online classes:
1. You don't need to install any software
- Convenience: By hosting our classes on our website we make sure your time, ease, and worry free experience come first. This way you don’t have to download or install any software. You don't even need to sign in to access the live class. You simply provide your name and your teacher will enter you into the session. This means you can access classes from computers that are not yours, like a public computer or a family members laptop without cluttering their device with your applications. All you need is your Yasmin Academy login details to open the course and your set to go.
- Cross-Platform: As long as your browser is up to date, the class can be accessed from any device—laptop, desktop, tablet, or mobile phone—without worrying about compatibility or OS restrictions. See our browser guidelines for classrooms here.
- Faster to join and use: Getting late for class? With our online classes, you can join the session by simply opening the lesson page. There's no need to download the app, update to the latest version, or wait for the app to load. You don't need to be tech-savvy or waste storage space unnecessarily. Additionally, a fraction of RAM and CPU is used meaning your device isn't slowed down or overloaded.
2. Your privacy and security
- Less Data Collection: The platform is built for security by design collecting minimal user data.
- End-to-End Encryption (E2EE): For small classes, sessions are fully encrypted, meaning only participants can access the content. In larger classes, media is encrypted in transit and decrypted only in server memory to minimize exposure.
- No Centralized Servers: The platform is hosted on secure, globally-distributed infrastructure, based in Dublin, Ireland, and adheres to the highest security standards (ISO27001, SOC2).
- No Data Storage: We do not store your video or audio data. Recordings are saved only on user devices, and chat data is deleted after each session. Separate login is not required for online classes as to eliminate all unnecessary user data collection.
- We are committed to security, certified by ISO27001 (certificate is available on request; contact security@yasmin.academy).
11. Zoom, Microsoft, and many other widespread platforms support Zionism, aka terrorism
Using these platforms would mean paying for and supporting them which would directly help terrorist Zionists.
- Zoom: Bans accounts that support Palestine in effort to silence the truth. They have also set up offices in 'Israel' and censored many Palestinian events in the past and continue to do so. See Dawn, Haaretz, and The Intercept.
- Microsoft Teams and Skype: Microsoft is heavily invested in 'Israel' and the genocide it is committing. Along with many big corporations, Microsoft hides behind supposed charitable causes including the Gates foundation, when, in reality, it values profit before ethics. The company recently fired employees over a vigil and fundraiser held for Gaza not long after releasing statements condemning 'Hamas terrorist attacks'. See the Microsoft's investments and services to the 'Israeli military' on Who Profits. See also Al-Jazeera, The Guardian, and Microsoft.
- Google Meet: Google is one of the biggest supporters of the apartheid army. In 2021, Google and Amazon signed a $1.2 billion deal with the 'Israeli military' to provide "computing infrastructure, artificial intelligence (AI) and other technology services" to the Zionist forces which they would then use to murder children, women, and men. See Al-Jazeera, The Middle East Eye and Time.
- Cisco Webex: Cisco has illegal operations in occupied Palestinian territory and continues to provide 'Israel' with technology that enables the ongoing genocide. The digital communication company is partnered with the IOF ('Israeli' Occupying Forces) in providing them with "advanced military communication networks facilitated by Cisco’s Unified Communication systems." (See Business and Human Rights Resource Center, the BDS Movement, and 'Israel Defense'.
